What age range do you teach?
We teach ages 5 and up on all instruments. We encourage students to start young on their instruments, but also love to teach adults who have always wanted to learn music. It’s never too late to get started!
How often should a student have lessons?
A great place to start is a weekly 30 minute lesson. Younger students typically do best with this length of lesson. However, more advanced kids and adults may like 60 minutes lessons each week so we can cover more material.
What are your billing and payment policies?
We will send you an email invoice at the start of each month for that month’s lessons. Payment will be due on the last day of the month, and can be paid online via credit/debit card.
What programs do you use for virtual lessons?
We use Zoom, FaceTime, and Skype. If there is another method that you prefer we can most likely accommodate that as well.
How much should I practice?
It depends on the student and how quickly they want to advance. As little as 10-15 minutes a few times a week will do wonders. The more you practice the better you’ll be on your instrument. Practice makes permanent.
How many instruments can I learn at once?
I personally believe it is good to start with one instrument and really dive into it. Learn the fundamentals of the instrument and music before adding another. Of course, there are exceptions to this idea. For example, learning guitar and drums at the same time can be extremely beneficial. We can learn how to read music, play chords, and analyze melodies and harmonies on the guitar. We can then learn rhythm and tempo on the drums. Combining two instruments in this manner really provides a comprehensive learning experience.
What’s one trick that can help me be a better musician/student?
Always believe in yourself. Don’t let anybody tell you that learning an instrument (at any age!) isn’t worthwhile. Always play music for yourself and don’t do it to try to impress someone else or do something that will make them happy. If you stick to being yourself, the music will flow naturally and people will be attracted to its authenticity.
What is best band of all time?
The Beatles, obviously :)
